I grew up in Santa Rosa, CA and went on to attend college at University of California San Diego. Undergraduate coursework dealt heavily with understanding how to be a citizen of the world. Studies focused on how cultures developed across the globe and how they influenced each other. Art manifested as an important pursuit, expression and identity throughout time. That might be why I was drawn to media.
Fine art and media both struggle to find their contextual relativity. I don't believe one is better than the other. My gateway was photography which, to this day, seems to straddle the fine art and commercial art worlds. Graphic design was a natural progression of my interests. And that is where I spend my time now.
The challenge of creating something that resonates with a particular audience is the most fun part of a project. The work should speak directly to a group with understanding. I seek to connect, inspire and relate to the audience.
